Bar exam = torture = OVER

Congratulations to my sister, Lisa, for finishing the grueling two day bar exam today!!

I can't even imagine going through law school and the bar exam...they seem so cruel.

I suppose I should also congratulate my cousin-in-law Hanna as she took the bar this week too.

Yay for being done!

Softball fun times

So if you didn't know, I decided that I would join my church's newly re-formed softball team this summer. My church hasn't had a softball team in about a decade (I think), but we have a really good bunch of folks on the team. I thought I'd sign up because it would be a fun way to meet other people in the parish (that aren't in the choir) and I used to love to play softball.

The league is co-ed slow pitch, which is an entirely new situation for me as I always played women's fastpitch. We're a little more than halfway through the season, and I LOVE IT! I have so much fun when we play, and we've been blessed with nearly perfect weather every Monday night, which makes any outdoor activity that much better.

Anyways. I've been getting better and better as the season goes on, and now I am feeling much more confident in my play. (I hadn't played any form of softball in about 10 years prior to our first game! I'm not saying I'm awesome by any means, but I am serviceable!)

I've been very busy lately with travel and cabins and other stuff going on, but I feel bad that I haven't been a very good blogger lately! My apologies, faithful readers (hi Mom!)

Tomorrow night is book club with this bunch of folks: http://grabbagbookclub.blogspot.com/ so you can expect a blog post on one (or both) of these blogs about that coming soon.

T minus 13 days until my golden birthday!

Happy 3 Day Weekend!

It's the Fourth of July! And this year, it falls on a Friday, which makes for a nice 3 day weekend. :) The weather couldn't be nicer. Travis and I took the boat out last night after I left work, and it was incredible. Sunny, not too hot, a bit of a breeze...I'm bummed Travis has to work this whole weekend.

We're having a birthday cookout for Mom tonight - that should be lots of fun.

I've been told I haven't been bloggin enough, and I know that's true. I'll try to get a post up here about my NYC trip, and I'll see what else has been going on in my busy life that is exciting enough to make the blog :)

Have a great 4th - where is everyone watching fireworks tonight??

Sick as a dog

So for the past few days, my throat has been scratchy, and I haven't been feeling well. I thought it was a result of several plane rides (ew, confined space with a bunch of grubby people) and the conference I went to last week (for some reason, the dry air in conferences just kills me). I figured I would go and check in with my doctor late this afternoon just to make sure all was well. All day yesterday, my throat was hurting more and more, and it was getting tougher to swallow.

Fast forward a few hours. I woke up pretty much every hour on the hour, hot as a furnace and having really odd and unsettling dreams. At 6am, I took my temperature - 102.0 degrees - NOT GOOD. I could barely swallow, and I am fairly sure I even cried because I felt so bad, but it's a bit fuzzy. I changed my doctor's appointment to the morning, and my doctor looked at my chart and said "whoa, you have a fever!" and then he looked at my throat and said "whoa, that looks like a sore throat!" I can't think it's a good sign when the doctor looks surprised at how bad you are feeling! Apparently my glands are also all swollen - I have tonsillitis. Dr. D gave me a fairly strong antibiotic prescription, which I hope kicks in very fast, as he said I needed to lay low until my fever was under control. Sadly, it's not yet, but here's hoping.

Want to know why I want to feel better?? We leave on Friday for NYC to visit Stacy and Cory, and then I am staying a few extra days for work. I've been looking forward to this trip for a long time, and I definitely don't want to feel sick while I am there! Stacy, if you are reading this, I promise I am really working on feeling better so we can have a fun time while we are out there. (Oh, and I don't think we need any special food or anything. The one thing in NYC that I haven't seen that is on my list is Central Park, so it'd be cool to add that to our itinerary.)

OK, even though I have dozed literally all day, I am tired, and I am going to bed. Fingers crossed for me, everybody!!
